Vitovska O. Scientific grounding of National strategy of fight against primary glaucoma in Ukraine.

The object of investigation: the eye care system for glaucoma patients, individual and population health. The aim: to ground and develop the National Strategy of fight against primary glaucoma in Ukraine. Subject of investigation: prevalence and incidence of primary glaucoma in Ukraine, individual and population risk factors, screening methods, methods of diagnosis, eye care state for glaucoma patients (diagnosis, treatment, dispensary), quality of life of glaucoma patients. Methods: epidemiological, system and comparative analysis, expert judgement, statistical, clinical, timing method, evaluation of quality of life. Theoretical and practical significance - addition of the social medicine theory and ophthalmology in the objective laws and perspective of glaucoma epidemiology in Ukraine, exposure of risk factors of glaucoma; an orgware of primary glaucoma early exposure by screening of population and persons with high risk of glaucoma origin, objective laws of the eye care accessibility and quality influence at clinic of glaucoma and quality of life of patients. Results of investigation are the base for creation of screening system in risk group of population, rationalization of eye care for glaucoma patients. All these led to the better diagnosis in early stage of glaucoma, increasing of the patients under dispensary, increasing of informing of the patients. Scientific novelty. The epidemiological characteristics were established in Ukraine and compared with world tendency. The individual and population risk groups have been established, screening system was ghrounded and rationalized, resourses were calculated. разработаны The systemic principle in diagnosis, treatment, dispensary according to international guidelines have been worked out. The quality and accessibility was evaluated and factors that influence on them. The role of dispensary in clinic of glaucoma was investigated. It was prooved that already at the beginning stage of glaucoma deterioration of dispensary quality leads to the worsening of the disease and invalidization of population. National strategy of the fight against glaucoma was grounded and worked out. Adoption of it elements into eye care demonstrated its medical, social and economic efficacy.
