The dissertation is devoted to the solution of an actual task of modern social medicine - support and improvement of the system of the medical and social assistance to elderly people with mental disorders on the basis of study of the existing needs of the elderly people and condition of their health, as the result the a qualitatively new functional and organizational model of gerontological and psychiatrical help, which demonstrated the social, medical, and economic efficiency, has been substantiated.
