Essay

The thesis contains a complex analysis within in context of the Post-Byzantine mentality. Marginal personality is considered as a model of an axiological choice, which includes the following integral components: fundamental rejection of sacred, national and social foundations of the universe, nonconformity, loss of meaning of life, loneliness as a life style, absolutization of its own will and freedom, aspiration for something new and different, attempt of creating a perfect life. It is stated that one of the primary doctrinal planks of Christianity concerning the creation in the image and likeness of God promotes the formation and development of this model. The notion of marginal personality is linked to the notion of the national intelligentsia. The thesis substantiates the idea of two types of the nonconformist allegiance: immanent (apostacy of Mangod; focus on building the Kingdom of Earth and on social justice) and transcendental (asceticism of Godman, focus on building the Kingdom of God and focus on God's grace). The thesis analyzes the legacy of P.I. Pestel (anti-tyranny), F.M. Dostoyevsky (theomachy) and N.A. Berdyaev (life-creation) as examples of the axiological model of marginal personality in context of the Post-Byzantine mentality.
