The thesis is devoted to the development of theoretical and methodological foundations of future teachers' self-study work organization on acquiring communicative competence in English. Pedagogical prerequisites of future teachers' self-study work organization have been grounded; levels of students’ autonomy and types of self-study work guidance depending on models of interaction between lecturers and students have been specified in the thesis. Methodological foundations of system of future teachers' self-study work organization on acquiring communicative competence in English have been grounded in the thesis. The requirements to the level of linguistic, speech, linguasociocultural, learning and strategic competences have been specified. The methodology of future teachers' self-study work organization on acquiring communicative competence in English has been worked out. The effectiveness of the suggested methodology has been confirmed and recommended levels of autonomy have been defined during experimental teaching.
