Object of research: the process of system transformation of old industrial regions world economy under globalization. The aim of the thesis is to develop the theoretical and methodological foundations of systemic transformation of old industrial regions and on this basis - a coherent scientific concept of strategy development for old industrial regions of the world economy under globalization. Methods: methods of induction and deduction, and the overall value system of an individual, the method of system-structural analysis, the method of establishing causation, systematic approach, methods of economic statistics, graphical analysis and expert prediction, comparison, economic and mathematical modeling. Theoretical results: is to improve the theoretical and methodological foundations of the study of old industrial regions of the world economy and conceptual addressing systemic economic transformation of old industrial regions in the context of globalization. Bottom line: to develop the scientific basis of the formation of the states economic strategy taking into account the systemic transformation of old industrial regions in the context of globalization. Scientific novelty: the first defines the new direction of scientific research, the essence of which is to develop the theoretical and methodological, organizational and economic principles of sustainable development of old industrial regions in the context of globalization, the hypothesis about the phenomenon of old industrial regions, the notion of "blocking effect" , "old industrial cluster"; improved: the concept of "old industrial regions", "neoindustrial economy", "cluster integration trap"; methodological principles study of the global transformation of old industrial regions because isolating the causes of the decline of the latter; functional determinant for the identification of spatial functions specific infrastructure facilities in the old industrial regions; received further development: criteria for comparing the relative economic systems defined common and distinctive features of old industrial regions.
