Kunanets N. The system of library information services for disabled people in Ukraine: history, methodological foundations, prospects

The thesis presents an information system prototype for providing information services at libraries for serving people with special needs. It can be installed at any existing library. The developed system facilitates service of disabled people by employing the inclusiveness principle that provides prerequisites for a complete integration of people with special needs into the social life. The establishment of this system at libraries will help to overcome methodological, ideological and conceptual, social and psychological, technological and communicative barriers for making information more accessible.The proposed system for providing library information services to people with disabilities ensures a specialized approach to library users that takes into account their individual special needs. It improves existing approaches for providing library services by employing the inclusiveness principle that takes into account the details of specific communication channels used by library users with special needs.
