The thesis is devoted to the study of psychological foundations of professional development of practice psychologist in the system of continuous education. Studied theoretical and methodological approaches to the problem of professional development in modern psychology; deepened and clarified of categories, the contents and essence of the psychological concepts of "professional development", "psychological readiness for the professional self-improvement; gained the next development the notions about features and factors of professional development of practice psychologist during stages of professiogenesis. It was found essential characteristics of self-improvement activity as a activity which is realize all types, forms, kinds of individual personal activity. In the contentual model of the professional development main determinants of this process are considered: the continuous education system, psychology readiness for the professional self-improvement. The dynamics of changes of personality and individual features of practical psychologists on the differed stages of professiogenesis are analyzed. The main types of professional development are highlighted: adaptive, actively, passive, protective. Psychological technology of optimization of practical psychologist's professional development in the continuous education system are emphasized; options of practical psychologist's model which are showed the requirements to it and which deterministically of professional activity are grounded; experimentally tested psychological and pedagogical conditions of optimization of professional development are revealed.
