Kindratyuk B. Culture of Bell-Ringingin Ukraine:

For the first time the thesis conducts a systematic investigation of the Ukrainian bell-ringing culture as a social and cultural phenomenon. The multidisciplinary studies are pursued on the basis of involving a wide circle of historiographical sources, which in fact determined the creation of a new direction in the Ukrainian contemporary cultural studies - campanology. According to the author's definition, the bell-ringing culture in Ukraine encompasses molding bells and building structures for them, their churchly and secular functions, training bell ringers, their creating musical bell-ringing compositions as well as bell-ringing dissemination in social-household, ecclesiastical-sacral and folk-ritual spheres. There areconsidered processes of formation and development of bells and bell-ringing art on Ukrainian territories during centuries. Within the context of analyzing these problems there are suggestions of scientific conceptions on the bell-ringing in Ukraine, there are developed separate, particularly significant questions as well as their peculiar reflection in various kinds of art: in belles lettres, architecture, painting, music.
