The dissertation investigates creative and pedagogical activity of S. Eyzenshteyn, L. Kuleshov, H. Avenarius, V. Ynakivskiy, I. Kavaleridze, H. Zatvornickiy, B. Dmokhovskiy, I. Savchenko, V. Dovbyshenko, M. Verkhaschkiy, V. Ivchenko, T. Levchuk, V. Nebera, H. Krikun, V. Denisenko, V. Kisin, V. Chubasov, M. Merzlikin, V. Gorpenko etc. in a context of the development of cinema school in Ukraine at thirtieth - sixtieth years of the twentieth century. The dissertant reconstructs the process of they formation as a pedagogues and artists, making a deep analysis of a wide variety of sources and involving previously unknown archival sources in the academic discourse.
