Essay

The paper regards the issues of a person's (subject's) life potential. The author has elaborated and applied the multilevel theoretical conception where the development and realization of a person's life potential is determined by interaction of two systems - "Egoism" (which at the highest level of its development is treated as Individualism) and "Personal Uniqueness". Accordingly, the process of an individual self-realization is regarded from two points of view: from the inner (mostly inborn) potential, talent ("self") and from the person's will and abilities for its productive implementation ("realization"). The author demonstrates a number of integrative and specifying opportunities of the new model in comparative analysis with some theories of general and positive psychology. A number of concepts with unclear borders, which are widely used in humanitarian sciences as well as in daily contact, is systematized. Several groups of practical methods, which enable to diagnose life potential, are elaborated. Some of them give the opportunity to investigate the process of self-realization, while the others - to strengthen life potential with the help of special exercises. The author demonstrates the connection between life potential and such terms as "meaning", "happiness", "individuality" etc.
