The thesis contains the complex interdisciplinary research of the stone architectural decoration and sculptures of minor arts from South Rus of the end of tenth - the first half of the thirteenth centuries. For the first time by the sophisticated historical and art historical analysis with the involving of all kinds of sources the general picture of the development of sculpture is reconstructed and the new solution of the current problems of attribution, purpose and semantics of the works of stone carving, organizations of the crafts and use of the spolia is proposed. The importance of cultural contacts for the formation of local architectural schools, the unity of artistic processes in various kinds of carvings of South Rus and their according with the European stylistic changes are observed. The author has clarified, and in some cases revised the date, cultural belonging and purpose of the architectural details, sarcophagi and works of the minor arts. The develop-ment of the monumental and decorative sculpture and works of the minor arts of South Rus for the first time is considered as the part of a pan-European cultural process.
