Developed theoretical and methodological approach that combines functional and systemic approach as a general scientific interdisciplinary methodology, with metacognitive approach, reflecting the concrete scientific level of research in psychology has allowed to prove that the verbal imagination in the process of random purposive construction of verbal imagery is metacognition, which performs management and integrating function. In terms of functional and systematic approach "verbal imagination" is a metasystem - certain mental operations complex (action) of the subject, which appears and functions only when the subject of the need to control and manage their own cognitive processes during the creation of the verbal image. The interaction of these operations creates a system property that provides the subject's ability to control and manage the process. These kinds of verbal imagination as a metaphorical and poetic, in the context of functional and systematic approach exist as metasystem - only in the process, during the execution of their functions, so the shape of their existence can be regarded as a metasystem function - mental function that performs management and integrating actions metacognitive processes necessary to create an artificial system as the external environment and the inner world of the subject.
