Essay

This study deals with comprehensive analysis of the Subotov hill-fort of the transition period from the Bronze Age to Early Iron Age. The data on territories from Asia Minor and Carpathian-Danube to Northern Black Sea Coast and Central Kazakhstan are involved for solving the question on conditions, time of existence and a culture its inhabitants. The author came to the conclusion that Subotov hill-fort was the regional cultural, trading and political centre of cpecific kind from the end of 11th to the end of the 9th centuries BC. Such sites not only reflect the arising militarization od society, but also its commercialisation and mobility. Subotov hill-fort belongs to the Chernyi Les stage of Belogrudovka Culture. Local population from the Dniester to the Dnieper and Northern Black Sea Coast was influed by traditions of the western and southwestern (Early Hallstattian) origins.
