This thesis deals with conceptual and theory-based investigation of the Ideal Self psychology, which is a follow-up to and further improvement of international and local methodological approaches to the analysis of phenomenon of the Ideal Self, along with its role in the structure of the personality. The thesis illustrates the connection of the Ideal Self with other ideal matters, discovers the philosophy of the Ideal Self as the an Ideal Self based problem currently existing in the scientific area. Discovered are gnoseological roots and sources of the Ideal Self in Philosophy, categorical sources and definitive basis of the Ideal Self in the history of Philosophy, along with various ideal matters as a problem of solely theoretical concepts in cognition. Considered are the conception of the Ideal Self in interdisciplinary surveys: the Ideal Self in natural and exact sciences, in humanities and social arts. Neurocybernetics-based approaches to the analysis of various Ideal Selves as well as consistence and integrity of physiological and psychological matters in the ontogenesis of various Ideal Selves are considered, along with possibilities to use the Ideal Self in Neurosciences and Medicine. Also considered are most common concepts of the Ideal Self in the academic psychology: the Real Self of creation-oriented personalities in both national and international psychology. The dissertation proves that the ideal Self is the basic element of the Psychology as a science. The axiological aspect of the Ideal Self problem in Psychology (the Ideal Self as a form of learning the world on a psychological basis as a preverbal-stage tool intended for getting information coded). Discovered in the Thesis is a conceptual potential of the imaginary paradigm in Psychology (historyographic position of the Ideal Self in the psychology-based sciences as well as its role in the categorical system of Psychology as a tool of learning). The phenomenology of the Ideal Self is found and a so-called "family of problems" of the Ideal Self in Psychology is discovered and formulated. Discovered and considered in the Thesis is the culture-based and historic nature of the Ideal Self, as per social and culture-based justification and reasoning of the Ideal Self contents and qualities; the Ideal Self is introduced as a psychological culture of the personality. The Ideal Self is considered within the existing "imaging-activity-personality" system; the subject-to-object mechanism of culture-based and historic creation of the imaginary system in the personality mind. The semiotic and information-based nature of the Ideal Self is also underlined. In the dissertation, some existing aspects of the personality Ideal Self are defined. It is also proved that the family is a cultural foundation for imaginary development of the personality. The communicative origin of the Real Self of the personality, along with imaginary causes of negative cognitive- behavior of hard-to-deal-with teenagers are considered. This dissertation contains theory- and methodology-based basics of the Ideal Self survey. Basic processes of the Ideal Self in higher psychological functions (HPF) are described, along with the position and role exercised by the Ideal Self in the functional system of Psychology. The Ideal Self is defined as a polymorphic and multi-factor formation, and the concept of the Ideal Self social and culture-based position and role in the formation of a personality. Discovered and defined are psychological and physiological factors of the Ideal Self functioning. A systematic connection of the Ideal Self with Neuropsychology, higher psychological functions and of the neurologic flexibility of brain as well as with the role of the Ideal Self in the HPF brain organisation. The Ideal Self is also defined as a functional system and systematic genesis. Developed is a syndrome analysis of disorders in the imaginary function of the personality, and individual differences differential diagnosing ways and techniques are developed and described for the imaginary development of the personality. The dissertation contains a psychological surveillance of the personality imaginary development, with a programme for the psychological development of the personality imaginary system and with a psychological and statistic analysis of the formation stage of investigation provided.
