Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the culture and art research reconstruction of the art nonconformism within the context of the Ukrainian culture of the 20th century. The Ukrainian nonconformism is identified as a noncompliance with a common schematic form of art thinking, the intention to break the standards of its stereotypes and dogmas and to establish the dialectical content instead of the impersonal form. The specifics of the contemporary understanding of nonconformism lays in its definition as an authentic phenomenon of the Ukrainian culture that emerged as a result of the struggle for the national art and culture; it gave birth to the stable tradition of the resistance to the assimilation processes in the Ukrainian culture. The conceptual system of the national is revealed by means of the notion model «the concept of the national». It is established that this model reflects the cultural symbols of the Ukrainian ethnos which are closely tied to the emotional and spiritual dimensions of the existence. This model is internal apprehension through the genetic memory of the ethnos, it synthesizes the memory act oriented to the past, the act of imagination oriented to the future and the act of judgment oriented to the present. The concept of the national is the projection of the Ukrainian cultural, historical and geographic «typical landscapes» in the works of the artists regardless of their nationality.
