Essay

Object – processes of regional monetary integration under the conditions of transformation of geomonetary space. The aim is to develop a methodology for systematic research and to formulate conceptual approaches to regional monetary integration, and to justify, on this basis, a polystructural complementary model of Ukraine's integration into the European Economic and Monetary Union taking into account globalization challenges. Methods – theoretical generalization, methods of induction and deduction, analysis and synthesis, systematic method, classification methods, economic and mathematical modeling, historical logic, abstract-logical comparison, factoral, structural and cluster analysis, graphical method. Results – deepening of theoretical, methodological and applied approaches to the study of regional monetary integration, identification of the peculiarities of the functioning of monetary unions in the global space, distinguishing trends in the development of monetary integration of the countries of the world and justification of strategic guidelines for Ukraine's entry into the European Economic and Monetary Union. Novelty – for the first time: the contribution to the theoretical and methodological content of the paradigm of regional monetary integration has been made, which consists in the separation of its two components – monetary regionalization and monetary regionalism; it is proposed to consider monetary regionalism in two dimensions: the narrow one – as a set of centralized initiatives aimed at the formation or development of currency unions, including instruments of one-sided monetary integration and official dollarization and the wide one – as a set of processes of functional monetary integration in a certain geographical region; the gradation of levels of monetary co-operation in the micro and macroeconomic dimensions; the concepts of "monetary multilateralism" and "monetary minilateralism" were introduced, a polistructural complementary model of Ukraine's integration into the European Economic and Monetary Union was developed; improved: the typology of regional integration organizations through the identification of a group of modern types, taxonomy of regional monetary integration, which reflects the relationship between types of regional monetary integration associations and their main criteria, the classification of exchange rate regimes in accordance with the four coordinate systems and the multilateral monetary integration initiatives, in order to build a 12-corner perspective of exchange rate regimes; methodology for analyzing the effectiveness of the processes of monetary integration to verify the hypothesis about the stabilization nature of the processes of monetary integration, the methodology of studying regional homogeneity or heterogeneity with the help of cluster analysis tools through the grouping of states in the regions of the world; the methodology for analyzing the effectiveness of regional currency alliances to stimulate intra-regional trade through the construction of gravitational models of bilateral trade flows and the use of dummy-variables for monetary integration; developed further: the systematization of post-crisis epistemological approaches to the processes of regional monetary integration, the classification of international currencies and their functions, theoretical and methodological approaches to the interpretation of "regional economic integration", approaches to the formation of direction of monetary integration alternative to regionalism – global monetary unification. Implemented in the activities of: the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, the National Depository of Ukraine, the Department for International Cooperation and Fundraising of the Ternopil Regional State Administration, Ukreximbank JSC in Ternopil, the Kharkiv Banking Union, the Office of Strategic Development of Ternopil City Council, as well as in the educational process of the Matej Bel University of (Slovakia), Lodz University (Poland) and Ternopil National Economic University. Scope of usage – Committee on European Integration of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, National Bank of Ukraine.
