Essay

The dissertation research is devoted to studies of the philosophical views of Antoniy Radyvylovsky in the context of the Ukrainian spiritual culture of the baroque epoch. Philosophical views of the preacher are considered in the context of the works of other Ukrainian (Inokentiy Gizel, Joanykiy Galiatovsky) and Polish (Petro Skarga, Tomash Mlodzianovsky) church thinkers. Their texts were used for comparative analysis with the texts of Antoniy Radyvylovsky. The chronological period of the research is from the beginning of XVII century to the end of 1680s. This work is the first thorough research of the philosophical part of the homiletical heritage of Antoniy Radyvylovsky. The analysis of the phenomenon of the philosophical culture was made in the dissertation. Therefore, specific aspects of the functioning of the philosophical knowledge elements, lexis and texts in the church homilies are being considered through its perspective. The circle of the ethical and moral problems, that Ukrainian church thinkers of the baroque epoch were paying attention to, was characterized. The axiological horizon of the research of the ethical and moral teaching in the texts of Antoniy Radyvylovsky was defined. The value of achievements of the famous representative of the “mogyliansky” circle for the further development of the native spiritual culture was revealed. It was shown in the dissertation for the first time that the approach that analyses the religious texts through the perspective of the philosophical culture can be a methodology that allows including them to the philosophical researches. With this approach the author of the religious text, granting correspondence of a criteria chain, is a thinker and a subject of the philosophical culture of the epoch, and his works are considered as its component.
