In this thesis, for the first time, the complex generalizing study of the processes of folklorism in the song and musical art of Ukraine in the end of the XX – the beginning of the XXI cent. is accomplished. The parameters of the system of ethnomusical folklore preservation in Ukraine are determined; the development of the kobza art in historical and musicological aspects is analysed; genre and stylistic features of folk song material mastering by musical folkloric bands are reviewed in the context of the folk movement process of growth in Ukraine; the festival movement is characterised through the prism of the use of folk song stratum. Detailed analysis of the pop-folk branch establishment of Ukrainian stage and its main performers is made, as well as the factual massif of Ukrainian alternative music; processes of folk stratum mastering at the operatic scene, in academic choral collectives, symphonic orchestras, and the ways and methods of musical folklore presentation on the radio and television, in Internet, printed mass-media etc. are generalised.
The theoretical and methodological basis of the thesis are served by the concepts of authoritative Ukrainian (M. Dmytrenko, A. Ivanytskyi, A. Kabanova a. o.) and foreign (M. Azadovskyi, V. Husiev, I. Zemtsovskyi a. o.) scientists. Used sources are conditionally divided into two groups: the first group includes works of a conceptual nature, the second one – scientific researches and dissertation works, in which effectiveness of folkloric factors is analysed in structural, formulating areas of modern musical process, and common conceptions of folklore development and the phenomenon of folklore are highlighted.
In accordance with the object, subject, purpose and tasks of this research, the logics and structure of the thesis are constructed. The dissertation work consists of an abstract, five sections, conclusions, a list of used references, applications.
In the first section the state of scientific development of the topic is studied, the main sources of the research are comprehended, the terminological system and methods of folklorism study are characterised. The sources are conditionally divided into seven major groups: the official sites of archival scientific folkloric funds, laboratories in studying the national musical creative work; interviews, messages in mass-media; content of printed mass-media; ethnofolk content on official sites of television channels and radio programmes; official sites and pages of musical and folk bands, singers, composers, ethnofestivals, musical contests.
The second section provides a retrospective review of the history of collection and development of the song folklore, as well as the modern state of its preservation is analysed. During the examination of the identified process in the XX cent. the essence of debates, causing the periodisation and formation of folklore as a scientific and educational branch, is disclosed; the role of definite institutions and personalities in the task of collecting, preserving and promulgation of folk song heritage of Ukrainians is highlighted; the presence of empirical materials fundamental hull of broad gamma of folk song creative work in Ukraine is accented.
In the third section the main directions and components of contemporary Ukrainian folk movement are reviewed: the institution of kobza studies, the activity of musical collectives of folkloric direction, folkloric bands of national minorities, ethnofestival movement; the essence of contradictions between the productive and reproductive trends in modern kobza studies is ostended; the repertoire of a significant number of creative collectives is comprehended.
In the fourth section repertoires of operatic groups, symphonic orchestras, academic choirs are studied from the point of view of folk song tradition reproduction of in their concert activity. A parallel analysis of the programmes of pop-folk bands and folk-alternative bands provided the basis for evaluating the process of transformation of musical folklore and its use in modern conditions.
The fifth section presents the characteristics of the research results presentations of folkloric melos on the radio and television, in printed mass-media and Internet; the analysis of quantitative and qualitative indicators of interplay of television, radio and musical folklore; consideration of the state of musical folklore use on radio and television; bringing to light the volumes and methods of folk song heritage presentation in the content of printed mass-media of modern Ukraine, trends, problems and prospects of its development.
Conclusions of the thesis indicate that important characteristics of folklorism processes in song and musical art of Ukraine in the end of the XX – in the beginning of the XXI cent.
