The object of the research: functioning of the family system. The purpose of the research: to determine the psychological patterns, mechanisms and specifics of the family system functioning at different levels with tobacco smoking. The methods: theoretical - analysis, synthesis, comparison, systematization, generalization; empirical - experimental and psychodiagnostic methods of researching the meaning and settings of smoking, its intercostal family transmission, structural and functional and procedural characteristics of the family system, as well as individual and family determination of tobacco behavior in the family; mathematical and statistical processing of data. Scientific novelty: the concept of family semanticization of smoking in the system of the level functioning of the family, which describes the family system phenomena and the family-driven mechanism of manifestation and fixation of tobacco smoking, is described; the interdependence of family functioning by the modality of ideas about the influence of smoking on the realization of family functions is determined; the basic components of the family system functioning with tobacco smoking are identified, namely: dissatisfaction with family functioning, incongruity in family relationships, family loyalty and family management; the specifics of family functioning with tobacco smoking, taking into account the leading psychological tasks at different stages of the family's life cycle, are determined; representation of smoking in family ideology and in the picture of the world of personality with different tobacco status is shown; the system of family and individual psychological predictors of smoking cessation motivation at different stages of the family's life cycle is determined. Practical value of research: the developed techniques (questionnaires "The effect of smoking on family functioning", "Smoking as a substitute for psychological hunger", "The motivation of smoking cessation" and the questionnaire "Research of psychological settings for smoking") can be used to determine the directions of development of the family system with tobacco smoking.
