Shulha V. Formation and development of breeding work in animal husbandry of the Ukrainian SSR in the 30's – first half of the 80's of the 20th century in the intellectual space of Professor M.A. Kravchenko

The dissertation is a systematic scientific-historical research, which on the basis of a complex of sources and the application of modern methodological approaches generalizes the main tendencies of the development of domestic breeding work in animal husbandry in the 30's – the first half of the 80's of the 20th century. The impact of the Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor M. A. Kravchenko (1909–1986) to the development of theoretical and methodological principles of breeding work was substantiated. His activities as the organizer of the domestic agricultural research work, the initiator of the establishment of some branch educational structures was comprehensively evaluated. His scientific heritage was systematized, the priority of his research for the improvement of the system of linear breeding, the management of individual development of animals, the effective use of individuals with record productivity, the introduction of the foundations of long-term planning were justified. M. A. Kravchenko's contribution to the development of modern theory and methodology of breed creation in beef cattle breeding, the creation of the first domestic specialized breeds and types of livestock were specified. The significance of the teaching and popularization of the scientist for the general development of branch scientific thought was proved. The program of activities of his scientific school was generalized.
