Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the general theory of the welfare, its development and practical application. The author considered the theory of the welfare state in the context of the mega-regional integration and the transformation processes. The interconnection between different forms of the economic integration and dynamics of the population welfare in the countries-participants of the international economic integration is established. The socio-economic convergence has been analyzed based on the macroeconomic and demographic indicators and the life standards and the quality indexes in the different regions of the world — EU, NAFTA, ASEAN, Mercosur and EAEU. The abolition of the customs tariffs between Ukraine and the EU through the operation of the free trade zone due to the GTAP 10.0 Model of General Economic Equilibrium and the database was analyzed. The preconditions of both parties’ economic welfare increase were identified. In particular, the expediency of using the concept of a welfare state to achieve socio-economic equilibrium in Ukraine have been substantiated in the thesis; analyzed the macroeconomic indicators; proven the cyclical character of the dynamics and the structural changes in the formation of the incomes in Ukraine during 1991–2017; analyzed the structural transformations that took place in the CEE countries and Ukraine; determined the influence of the changes in the regime of the foreign trade of Ukraine and the EU on the structure and the dynamics of the foreign economic activity of the national industries; analyzed and the forecast estimations of the probable consequences of the import and export duties abolition between Ukraine and the EU for the economic welfare, and presented the volumes of the production and the sectoral-spatial structure of foreign trade; disclosed the probable influence of the European integration factor on the liberalization and the structural reforms acceleration in Ukraine; proposed a theoretical and methodological model of the cause-and-effect relations between the institutional integration into the EU and the structural changes in the labor market and the investment activity of Ukraine.
