Chuyko O. Art of the Principality of Galicia-Volhynia in the Cultural Space of the European Middle Ages.

The dissertation provides panoramic insight into the artistic heritage of the Principality of Galicia-Volhynia from the perspective of international relations. Based on a wide range of sources and relevant recent research, we shape a scientific idea of the peculiarities of the art of the Galician-Volhynia state. We have updated the information about the contribution of many researchers to the study of its art. We see it as a complex and multidimensional phenomenon, one of the components of the developed culture of this state. Important factors in cultural advancement at that time were both close connection with the rich heritage of Kyivan Rus and diverse relations with neighboring and distant countries. We develop further coverage of preconditions, causes and circumstances of the emergence of characteristic features of art of the Principality of Galicia-Volhynia from the perspective of cultural creativity of Ukraine, as well as analyze authentic manifestations of works of art involved in the sacred and secular spheres. We also make an attempt to update the comprehension of the issue of borrowing and transformation of the innovative model.
