Essay

The thesis examines holistically the correlations of formal-syntactic expanding members of the sentence with semantic-syntactic units, viz. syntaxemes, in the modern Ukrainian language. The main features that distinguish a semi-predicative formation from other cases of actualization of potential predicativity were identified and considered. A typology of models implemented in a formally and semantically non-elementary sentence was created. Based on the principles of a comprehensive approach, the correlations of formal-syntactic and semantic-syntactic features of constructs that expand a simple sentence were systematically described. The respective nomenclature of terms was specified and unified, the minimum corpus of terms necessary for understanding the essence of the concept of a simple expanded sentence as projected on the formal-syntactic and semantic-syntactic structure of the sentence was determined. The typology of explanatory constructs was determined, and their semantic and functional manifestations were analysed. For the first time in the Ukrainian linguistics, the affiliation was substantiated of constructs with the meaning of identity through clarification and specifying constructs to explanatory ones as varieties that have the «necessary» grammatical means of expression. It was established how the concepts of formal elementariness / non- elementariness and semantic elementariness / non- elementariness correlate. An expanded sentence is understood to mean a special type of sentence that is characterized by a combination of two interrelated criteria: structural and / or semantic complication of the predicative basis of the sentence. The types of syntactic relationships in the structure of an expanded sentence were established and analysed: 1) additional predicativity and 2) intraline relationships. The structure of an expanded sentence is diverse: all types of sentences can be subject to structural and semantic expansion. We distinguish expanded sentences by their semantics, structure, and intonation from simple and complex ones.
