The dissertation presents a solution to the current scientific problem of forming a holistic system of knowledge on control in team sports, which provides the basic ideas that form the basis of knowledge about the control system and the mechanism of its practical implementation in the training of athletes in sports; approach and concept of forming a control system in team sports games in the process of long-term improvement; a system of criteria, tests and evaluation system in accordance with the stages of long-term improvement and factors influencing the effectiveness of competitive activities; unified control algorithm and control technology in team sports games in the system of long-term training on the example of basketball. The hierarchical structure of the system of knowledge on control in team sports games is substantiated. An approach to the development of a system of complex control based on the principles and ideas of systemic, complex, personal-activity, differentiated and individual approaches are developed. The developed concept of formation of the control system in the process of long-term improvement in team sports games contains conditions of rational functioning of the control system in team sports games in the process of long-term improvement; methodological basis for ensuring the control system of athletes in team sports games at different stages of long-term training in compliance with a number of principles; organizational basis, which consists in intensifying the development of sports science and technology in priority areas; principles of control over the effectiveness of training of athletes in team sports games, the application of which will allow in practice to control systematically and comprehensively in team sports games, taking into account the patterns of development of sports games and the process of training athletes.
