Essay

The thesis combines such different approaches to the study of dialectal emphasis, as: descriptive, arealogical, textological and elements of the historical and comparative approach as well, which made it possible to determine the trends of stressing, which operate in the Ukrainian dialectal continuum, to trace the history of their formation, outline the arealogical characteristic of accentuation phenomena or features, to reveal the emphasis functions, determine inter- and extralingual factors, which have an effect on the dynamic processes of dialectal emphasis. For the first time in the Ukrainian linguistics, the role of emphasis in the knowledge of the manner of speaking, patois and the dialect structures. The cadastre of accentuation phenomena that integrate and differentiate the Ukrainian dialectal space are determined. Proposed techniques for studying a paroxiton emphasis on the free moving emphasis background and the concept of concluding an accenting program-questionnaire from dialectal accentencing, which consists in the accumulation of dialectal features that combine and differentiate the Ukrainian dialects. The emphasis of nouns, adjectives, numerals and pronouns in Ukrainian dialects through the prism of accent types of moving / immovable emphasis traced. It is noted, that the models, the principles of studying and describing the dialectal accent system to some extent correlating with the principles, methods of studying the accent system of the literary standard. At the same time, these ones have own specifics, which are primarily in awareness, researcher orientation in space and time; the need to take into account not only the codified norm, but also an area of the dialectal system study, the history of its formation, the age-related characteristics of the speakers.
