In the dissertation works on the basis of theoretical generalization methodological and methodical bases are substantiated and practical recommendations on the decision of an important scientific and practical problem on maintenance of economic activity of the population in the conditions of transformation of the regional labor market are developed. Developed an algorithm for diagnosing the social structure, economic activity of the population (labor force) and the state of the labor market in the region. To this end, the differentiation of persons who are not part of the labor force, the level of connection with the labor market, the distribution of the population by economic and legal status in the regional labor market, identified forms of employment.
