The dissertation summarizes and proposes a new solution to the scientific problem of forming ecological competence of future biology teachers in the process of professional training. The state of development of the researched problem in domestic and foreign theory and practice of higher education is characterized, the essence and structure of the ecological competence of future biology teachers are substantiated. Methodological approaches have been scientifically substantiated, a concept, a pedagogical system of forming ecological competence of future biology teachers in the process of professional training has been worked out. The model of the pedagogical system was designed, criteria, indicators and levels of ecological competence of future biology teachers were determined. Pedagogical conditions for forming ecological competence of future biology teachers in professional training have been identified and substantiated, and scientific and methodological support for this process has been developed. The results of the experimental implementation of the pedagogical system of forming ecological competence of future biology teachers in professional training are summarized and the prospective directions of the professional training of future biology teachers in the context of forming their ecological competence are predicted.
