The thesis provides a theoretical generalization and a new solution to the scientific problem – the definition of the essence, content and disclosure of the peculiarities of the legal regulation of atypical forms of the population employment, which formed the basis of the development of the corresponding concept, as well as proposals and recommendations for improving labor legislation in this area. It has been noted that social processes affecting the spread of atypical forms of employment cover most of the developed countries of the world, including Ukraine, and in our country, atypical forms of employment are developing somewhat more slowly compared to most EU countries, which is due to certain differences in socioeconomic development. At the same time, the legal regulation of atypical forms of employment in Ukraine significantly lags behind the modern needs of society in this area. It has been emphasized that the emergence and development of atypical forms of employment revealed a significant number of problems and shortcomings, the causes, consequences and ways of overcoming which became the object of research of scientific developments of domestic scientists. The following conclusions have been drawn regarding the state of research on the legal regulation of non–typical forms of the population employment in Ukraine: firstly, given the significant growth in the popularity of non–typical forms of employment, scientists paid a lot of attention to the theoretical aspects of the development of this institute, in particular, they actively studied its impact on the development of the labor market; secondly, a significant number of researchers, when considering the legal regulation of atypical forms of employment, focus only on certain types of it, in particular: remote work, home work, etc.; thirdly, in the vast majority of studies, the authors pay attention to the positive and negative consequences of the spread of atypical forms of employment in Ukraine. Moreover, attention is focused precisely on the significant interest of employers in using atypical employment. Emphasis has been placed on the fact that the signs of typical or standard employment are: an indefinite term of the employment contract; full–time work in accordance with the requirements of current legislation; determined start and end time of work; the workplace is determined by the employer and is located outside the employee's place of residence, usually on the employer's territory; the working day schedule is, as a rule, clearly regulated.
