Object of the research. The rural social sphere of Ukraine and its infrastructure. Purpose of the research. Study of questions of formation of the rural social sphere and improvement of economic mechanism of regulation of its development and functioning in the transitive period to the market economy. Methods. Scientific apparatus includes the methods of economical, statistical and mathematical analysis, expert estimations, comparisons, groupings, monographic, experimental and graphical ways of analysis of the statistical information. Theoretical and practical results. The concepts of categories "rural social sphere", "the economic mechanism of regulation of development of the rural social sphere" were specified. Methodical approaches to system research of the rural social sphere during formation of the market relations were produced. New kinds of activity of subjects of the rural social infrastructure were grounded. Technique of estimation of level of development of the social objects with defin ition of an integrated (complex) parameter was developed. Directions for improvement of economic mechanism of management of development of the rural social sphere were grounded. Novelty of the implementations. For the first time in Ukraine, complex research of the rural social sphere and problems of economic regulation of its development and functioning in the conditions of transitive economy was conducted. Conceptual bases of development of the social sphere on prospect were developed. Mechanism of reorganization of objects of the social infrastructure was worked out. Degree of implementation. The scientific results are used in practical activity by the Ministry of Agro-industrial Complex of Ukraine, regional and local agro-industrial associations and when drafting laws and normative acts.
