Glushchenko V. Principles of comparative-historical research in Ukrainian and Russian linguistics (іn the period of 70s 19th century - 20s 20th century).

The methodological problem of scientific principles is raised in the thesis for the first time in the historiogra- phy of linguistics. There has been theoretically substantiated the rightfulness of analyzing principles of historical method, causality, systematization, the principle of general ties of the phenomena as principles of comparative-historical investigation of languages. By means of historical-scientific reconstruction there has been determined the contribution of Ukrainian and Russian linguists (in the period of 70s 19th century - 20s 20th century) to the assertion of the principles under review with regard to continuity and evolution of the comparativists' views. The chief results of the research are being used in the educational courses of historical- linguistic subjects.
