The dissertation is devoted to the development of scientific-based directions of improving the criminaldefence of law enforcement officers’honor and dignity. The state of scientific development of this problem has been analyzedon the basis of a comprehensive research of the scientific literature and the study of international and foreign practice of law enforcement officials’honor and dignityprotection. The personality characteristics of a law enforcement officer as a representative of the state whosehonor and dignity is protected by criminal law has been given. It has been established that the main feature of law enforcement activity is the defence of the rights of natural or legal persons by lawfully established methods and means. The social value of such activities is to have a positive effect on the legal behavior of a person through the use of permits and prohibitions which is a kind of protective instrument of the state.
