Yurchenko E. Activities of the Central Research Station for Artificial Insemination of Farm Animals (1960-1975) in the context of the development of breeding work in animal husbandry of the Ukrainian SSR

The dissertation is a systematic scientific and historical research, in which, based on the complex of sources and the application of modern methodological approaches the main tendencies of the development of domestic breeding work in the 60's – first half of the 70's of the 20th century were summarized. The contribution of scientists of the Central Research Station of Artificial Insemination of Farm Animals in the development of scientific foundations of regional production of livestock products in the Ukrainian SSR was substantiated. The main periods of its activities, which are based on the change of the dominant areas of scientific research, the effectiveness of the introduction of completed scientific developments, were identified. The scientific heritage of scientists of the research station was systematized, scientific researches on the improvement of breeding and productive qualities of cattle based on the application of improved methods of breeding and reproduction of farm animals, the introduction of immunogenetic studies, mathematical methods and electronic computing machinery were generalized. The contribution to development of problems of biology and physiology of reproduction of farm animals, optimization of artificial insemination technique and technology was specified.
