The dissertation research deals with the urgent problem of the formation of professional competences of future software engineers under the conditions of the shortened cycle of professional training at universities. The scientific novelty of the research results is as follows: for the first time the organizational and pedagogical conditions for the formation of professional competences of future software engineers under the conditions of the shortened cycle of professional training at universities (formation of stable positive internal motivation to higher education, professional activity, advanced training; systematic review and updating of educational programs for shortened cycle training of future software engineers at the bachelor's level, taking into account current trends in the field of information technology and higher education; providing future software engineers opportunities for individual educational trajectories under the conditions of the shortened cycle of professional training at universities; application of expedient forms, methods and means of formation of professional competences of future software engineers under the conditions of the shortened cycle of professional training at universities) are substantiated and developed. A structural and functional model of formation of professional competences of future software engineers under the conditions of the shortened cycle of professional training at universities has been developed. The contents of "shortened cycle of professional training of future software engineers at universities", "educational program for shortened cycle training of future software engineers at the bachelor's level", "formation of professional competencies of future software engineers under conditions of the shortened cycle of professional training at universities", "organizational and pedagogical conditions for formation of professional competences of future software engineers under the conditions of the shortened cycle of training at universities", "individual educational trajectory of the future software engineer in the conditions of the shortened cycle of professional training in universities" concepts have been determined. The essence of "professional competencies of future software engineers", "formation of professional competencies of future software engineers", "competence-oriented task" concepts has been clarified taking into account the specifics of the shortened cycle of professional training of future software engineers at universities; the structure of professional competences of future software engineers (motivational, cognitive, operational, communicative, reflective components), criteria (formation of internal motivation for a professional activity as software engineers, continuing education and advanced training; complete acquisition of knowledge and understanding the disciplines of the training cycle, formation of the ability to formulate judgments based on available information and cognitive skills; formation of an ability apply knowledge and skills in the course of professional activity in practice, and also to organize this activity efficiently; formation of abilities for effective oral and written communication in groups with different composition of participants and goals of joint activities; formation of abilities for reflection of educational and production activities), levels (low, critical, medium, sufficient, high) and indicators of formation of professional competences of future software engineers have been specified. The contents, forms, methods and means of the formation of professional competences of future software engineers under the conditions of the shortened cycle of professional training at universities have been improved. The theoretical and practical aspects of the formation of professional competences of future software engineers under the conditions of the shortened cycle of professional training at universities have been further developed.
