Essay

A comprehensive analysis of the phenomenon of humour as a component of ludic competence in psychological and psycholinguistic discourse is carried out. The author finds out the psychological and psycholinguistic structure of the youth’s humour, its features of development and empirically verifies a designed author’s conceptual model of humour development. Thus the author attempted to substantiate a possibility of applying in psychology the results of the held psycholinguistic experiment as a means of operationalizing theoretical constructs in general and humour as a component of ludic competence, in particular. The author defines and describes the polar forms of humour, i.e. “tediousness” and “buffoonery” (poles of deficiency and excess), and the optimal form of its development, i.e. “philosophical humour”. “A Real Humorist” is determined as a ludic position that corresponds to “philosophical humour”. “A bore” and “a buffoon” are described as the polar forms of the “real humorist” ludic position.
