Thesis for the scientific degree of the doctor of philosophy on the specialty 011 Educational, pedagogical sciences. – Poltava V.G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University, Poltava, 2020. The thesis research is devoted to the problem of formation of research competence of future physical education teachers in the process of training in the higher pedagogical educational institutions. For the first time a structural and functional model of formation of research competence of future physical education teachers was developed and implemented in the practice of pedagogical HEIs and pedagogical conditions of its realization were substantiated (orientation of the content of professional disciplines of future physical education teacher training to the research activity; creation of the scientific and educational professional environment in the higher educational institution, which stimulates the student’s research activities; gradual involvement of future physical education teachers into research activities; health preserving orientation of research activities of future physical education teachers; implementation of a system of interdisciplinary and cross-curricular links in the study of professional disciplines for future physical education teachers) training. The conceptual principles, content and structure of the concept «research competence of the future physical education teacher» are specified, as well as the stages of formation (initial – motivational-analytical; basic – organizational-activity orientated; final – professional-adaptive), criteria, indicators and levels of formation of research competence; methods of diagnostics of the state of research competence formation of future teachers of physical education. Further development the technological means of the research competence formation of future physical education teachers, forms, methods and means of students training for the research activities.
