Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the problem of training of future biology teachers on the basis of the competence approach in the higher pedagogical educational institutions. The purpose of the research is to substantiate theoretically, develop and test experimentally in the educational process of higher pedagogical educational institutions the technology of professional competencies formation of future biology teachers. For the first time the content and structure of the concept «competence principles of a future biology teacher training» was developed on the base of understanding of the competence as an integrative quality of personality, which is manifested in the level of his or her biological education and readiness to realize the personal potential during creative pedagogical activity, improvement of experience and desire for continuous self-education; stages of formation (initial  motivational and analytical, basic professional  organizational and activity oriented, final  professional and adaptive); the structure of professional competence of the future teacher of biology (motivational and valuable, cognitive and activity oriented, personal and reflexive components) and its components are determined (value-oriented, differentiated psychological, subjective, strategic, methodical, organizational, information and technological, social and communicative, ecological, health preserving, creative and innovative, autopsychological); the essence of the concept «competence oriented pedagogical methods» is substantiated; the structural and logical scheme of formation of readiness for application of competence oriented methods of future teachers of biology (health preserving methods, methods of external standardized testing, information and communication methods) is developed. Criteria (motivational, cognitive, operational and activity oriented, professional and reflexive), indicators and levels of readiness of future biology teachers to implement competency oriented methods are specified. Methodical aspects of implementation of the competence approach into the process of future biology teachers training in pedagogical HEI were further developed.
