Essay

The dissertation is a historical and pedagogical research on the problem of pedagogical personology that first studied the scientific and pedagogical heritage of the famous methodologist of the pedagogical science and the leader of the scientific school Semen Ustymovych Honcharenko. There has been found that in the modern scientific and educational discourse the pedagogical ideas as well as scientific and pedagogical activity of S. Honcharenko were not the subject of a holistic study. In scientific, bibliographic works and periodicals there is a fragmentary representation of the S. Honcharenko’s heritage, and a discrete analysis of his ideas, which had been formed during 55 years of the educator’s scientific and pedagogical activity. The methodological foundations of the research, which constitute the provisions of historical and pedagogical, personalistic, socio-cultural, historical and chronological, biographical, phenomenological and paradigmatic approaches, are substantiated. The methodological guideline of the investigative search is the general scientific principles: scientific development, objectivity, unity of theory and practice, historicism, systematics, multifactoriality, synthesis of historical and logical, concreteness, interdisciplinarity, academic integrity. The main concepts of the research such as «biographical method», «pedagogical ideas», «scientific activity», «scientific leader», «scientific school» are analyzed; the meanings of the concepts «pedagogical heritage», «educational activity» are specified. The essence of the biographical method of the research is revealed, the genesis of formation of the biographical method as a tool of research of heritage, ideas, personality’s activity is analyzed; the subject classification of sources on pedagogical personology is given. There has been revealed that the biographical method makes it possible to identify the influence of the society on the personality formation, his/her life path, the choice of one's own life position, values and ideals, social contexts, rules and norms. The objectivity of the research finding is ensured by the study of the primary sources, in particular archival documents, that contributed to the systematic study of the scientific and pedagogical heritage of the scientist and the generalization of the achievements of his research activities. Based on the use of a set of complementary methods (systematization, content analysis, search-biographical and personalistic-biographical methods, conversation, interviews, e-correspondence, etc.) the source base of the research was systematized into appropriate groups: S. Honcharenko’s scientific and pedagogical works; historiographical sources; periodicals of different years; interpretive; oral-historical; illustrative sources and photographic materials. The work has found that each of the groups of primary sources is represented by such works as: scientific and pedagogical works of S. Honcharenko («Pedagogical research: methodological advice to young scientists»), scientific, teaching and methodical works of the scientist (textbooks, manuals, monographs, scientific and journalistic articles, reviews, reports, etc.); normative-regulatory sources (orders, instructions, correspondence of education administrative bodies, reports, memoranda, etc.); mass sources (materials of periodicals «Soviet school», «Soviet education», «Higher education of Ukraine», «Native school», «Education in Ukraine», «Pedagogical newspaper», etc.); interpretive sources (scientific research of modern scientists in the field of theory and history of pedagogy: monographs, dissertation research, publications in periodicals in the context of the researched theme); oral-historical sources (materials of conversations, memories, interviews of colleagues, students, friends, comrades, relatives of S. Honcharenko); illustrative sources and photo materials (photos from the private archive of the Honcharenko family illustrating the life and scientific and pedagogical activity of the educator); documents and materials of archives (of the Central Ukrainian State Pedagogical University named after Volodymyr Vynnychenko, of the Institute of Pedagogics of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine. The study also involved the materials from the funds of the National Library of Ukraine named after V. I. Vernadskyi, the National Scientific and Pedagogical Library named after V. O. Sukhomlynskyi of the NAES of Ukraine and other book collections).
