Essay

Based on the results of the discourse of the event essence and related concepts, such as an occasion, an entertainment, a project, a theoretical explication of the event has been developed as a concept of the tourismology term system. The theoretical basis for the event formation has been systematized and deepened. Signs of conceptuality, innovativeness, uniqueness, publicness, multiculturalism, architectonic relationships, regulation, duration of the information effect, all-seasonality, regularity, and socio-economic efficiency of the events, which, in their integrated application, guide the eventual activities of tourism enterprises to achieve strategic and tactical goals, have been substantiated. The substantive characteristics of the classification features of the events of the tourist activity subjects have been substantiated. Based on this and taking into account the tendentious changes in the tourism market, a conceptual map of the classification features of the events in tourism has been developed. The proposed interpretation of the events typology in the tourism sector makes it possible to expand the scientific field of research on the versatility and features of their implementation, taking into account the specifics of the studied area. A multidimensional structure of event management in tourism has been proposed. The interdisciplinary interrelation between event management and project management, brand management, personnel management, marketing management, communication management, stakeholder management, financial management, and public administration, reflecting the functional and sectoral structure of tourism, has been proven. The definition of "event tourism" has been expanded in the context of its interpretation as a tourist activity that is formed on the basis of project management, has great commercial and social value. It has been established that in periods of unfavorable conditions there is a slowdown in the development of the tourist market and changes in the travel geography of tourists. At the same time, events of different directions are the main purpose of the trip, which proves the importance of this type of tourism, the positive impact of events on the development of the tourism industry. The methodological substantiation of the concept of event management has been made taking into account the global socio-economic crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and transformational sectoral changes in the market of tourist services. The concept proposed in the work is interdisciplinary, based on the dialectical unity of systemic, process, functional, multisubjective, institutional approaches and holistic basis of the theory of impression economics, which has allowed to define the goal, substantiate a 5-level system of goals and objectives, to specify the object and the subject, to systematize the principles, to structure the functions and methods that form the methodological basis of the concept. The practical implementation of the concept involves the use of a portfolio of methods for the implementation of marketing research and consumer segmentation of event activities, the substantiation of the innovative model of the events organization in tourism and algorithms for creating events road maps, formation of a portfolio of event programs by types of tourism, the evaluation of benefits for all stakeholders of the event and calculation of the event management effectiveness, diagnosis of the tourist attractiveness of Ukraine. The factors of economic impact of events on the destination have been revealed. The method of determining the economic efficiency of events based on direct and additional income and investment has been proposed, under which the approbation has been carried out according to the data of separate events in Kyiv, in particular the rate of return on investment (ROI). Approaches to determining the multiplication effectiveness of events has been generalized. The problem of possible negative economic impact of events on local residents of the destination has been actualized. An analytical procedure for evaluation of the contribution of event tourism as a set of implemented events in the structure of regional and national income has been proposed.
