Essay

In recent decades, has been noted increasing of the pollution degree of natural waters with heavy metals and other impurities all over the world. The main reason for this is the discharge of insufficiently treated wastewater, including from food enterprises, into water objects. Operating municipal wastewater treatment plants do not fully extract toxic impurities from them. Impurities can enter to a natural water bodies and negatively affect to their ecosystem. Also, in the absence of special water purification, toxic impurities can enter to the drinking water. Drinking water is the necessary raw material for food enterprises operations. In addition, the quality of food and human health depends at the quality of such water. That’s why, the development of effective technologies for purification of both natural and waste water from toxic impurities is urgent. Also the issue of effective processing of plant waste from food industry enterprises into useful materials is relevant. Often these enterprises are part of agricultural holdings, where, in addition to processing raw materials, it is grown and harvested. As a result of the enterprises activities, a huge amount of plant waste is produced, which is not always usefully disposed of. The accumulation of such waste in landfills has the negative impact to the environment. At the same time, due to the high content of plant polymers, these wastes can be the good raw material for the production of biosorbents. The cheapness, availability, large tonnage of plant waste in the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine will make it possible to create the production of domestic biosorbents for the purification of natural and waste waters from toxic impurities.
