The dissertation is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of the implementation of existential problems in the prose works of one of the leading modern Russian writers Lyudmyla Ulytska on the example of her novels “The Kukotsky Enigma” and “Daniel Stein, Interpreter”. In the dissertation, for the first time, based on a comprehensive analysis of existential problems in L. Ulytska's novels “The Kukotsky Enigma” and “Daniel Stein, Interpreter”, we have characterized the peculiarities of the implementation of existential problems in the writer's prose works; it has been proposed the typology of chronotope in the novel “The Kukotsky Enigma” and described the peculiarities of each of the selected types – infernal, oneiric, topographical and psychological; it has been established the intertextual connections of the novel “The Kukotsky Enigma” with Dante Alighieri’s “Divine Comedy” and the novel “Nausea” by the French existentialist philosopher J.-P. Sartre; it has beendescribed the role of “situations on the edge” in the novel “Daniel Stein, Interpreter”.
