The object of research is the professional training of future officers of engineering troops in higher education. The subject of research – organizational and pedagogical conditions and structural and functional model of formation of communicative competence of future officers of engineering troops in the process of foreign language training. The purpose of the study is to theoretically substantiate and experimentally test the effectiveness of organizational and pedagogical conditions and structural and functional model of the formation of communicative competence of future officers of engineering troops in the process of foreign language training. Research methods: content analysis of basic concepts, synthesis, comparison, generalization, modeling, questionnaires, observations, conversations, interviews, written and oral interviews, testing, self-assessment, pedagogical experiment, prognostic method of independent expert assessments, methods of mathematical statistics, schematization. For the first time, the set of organizational and pedagogical conditions of formation of communicative competence of future officers of engineering troops in the process of foreign language training was developed and theoretically substantiated (formation of positive motivation to master the components of communicative competence and values in one’s own self-realization; use of innovative methods, forms and information and communication technologies in the process of foreign language training of officers of engineering troops; organization of independent work of future officers of engineering troops with the use of information and communication technologies); also was developed and theoretically substantiated the structural and functional model of formation of communicative competence of future officers of engineering troops in the process of foreign language training, which consists of blocks: content-target, procedural, effective. Criteria, indicators, levels of communicative competence formedness of future officers of engineering troops and methods of their foreign language training are improved on the basis of communicative-activity and integration approaches. The concept of «communicative competence of future officers of engineering troops», the structure of communicative competence of future officers (as a system containing motivational-value, cognitive-linguistic, information-communication and behavioral-actyvity components) are specified. The theory and practice of foreign language training of future officers of engineering troops were further developed.
