Essay

The research on the content consists of three parts, united by a common goal: a methodological study of the issues of innovative development of the industry in the context of competitiveness; analysis and assessment of the state, trends, and problems of innovation in the Ukrainian industries; substantiation of practical recommendations for creating the conditions for enhancing innovation in Ukrainian industry. In the thesis the theoretical and methodological foundations have been deepened, the categorical apparatus of the dissertation has been improved: a transformation of the content of the categories “novation” and “innovation” has been delimited and disclosed; the understanding of the complex integrated nature of the innovation process has been deepened. The authorial approach to the classification of innovation has been proposed in which a matrix of an enterprise’s innovation by the components of innovation activity is developed, which demonstrates the diversity of the innovation process. The interrelationship of innovative activity with the general economic conditions of the world and national economies, the development of the industry, the stages of the business cycle, and the stages of enterprises` development itself have been investigated. As a result, it has been developed the conceptual model of an enterprise's innovative development in accordance with the stages of a life cycle7 taking into account the parameters of the external and internal environment, where macroeconomic incentives are determined, the parameters of appropriateness and the possibility of enterprise’s innovative activity are specified what form a scientific-methodological platform for improving the management of enterprise`s innovative development. The interrelationship between innovation activity and competition has been substantiated, the specific features of the modern competition have been investigated, it has been proven that under the present circumstances the competition is moving to a new stage of development – the innovative, which is based on the implementing of innovation. Key features and conditions for ensuring innovation-based competitiveness are systematized and defined that create real, potential, and absolute competitive advantages for the enterprises and branches of the industry, which has been allowed to develop the model of formation of industrial enterprise`s innovative competitiveness. The authorial method for the estimation of innovative development in branches of the industry has been proposed in order to analyze the condition and dynamics of innovation processes in the national industry. The method is based on the selection of the statistically reliable and meaningful indicators of innovation activity normalized to their average value for set innovative industrial enterprises which combined into a single index. This allows us to assess the innovative activity of a single industrial branch regarding other branches, and also to identify the substantive spheres of its achievements or backlogs. The method has been tested in assessing industrial enterprises and branches' innovative development by type of industrial activity in 2015 and 2017. According to the integral index, innovative activity in manufacturing was the best at the enterprises of the metallurgy and machinery, however, for most branches of industrial production, the level of innovative development has deteriorated. The diagnostics of the main blocks of the Ukrainian innovation ecosystem have been carried out to identify the barriers to innovative development in the industry. These blocks are the structure of production and markets, finances, state regulation of innovative development, human capital, the relationship of science, education and industry, infrastructure. The barriers to innovative development and the ways to enhance innovative activity in branches of the Ukrainian industry have been identified. It has been proven that enhancing innovation activity in the industry is possible in the transition of industrial enterprises to the model for the networking partnership which builds on the concept of open innovation and provides the exchange and pooling of knowledge, resources, and competencies in the process of innovation` implementation with other organizations and enterprises. A logic diagram of the introduction of the model for the networking partnership has been developed, where the sequence and conditions for its formation have been determined. This model has been used to the enterprises of the extractive and manufacturing industries of the Donetsk region – Sub “Rutex KERAM” LLC “Rutex KERAM” and LLC “Ceramic masses of Donbas”.
