Essay

The aim of the study: theoretical substantiation and empirical research of behavioral patterns of social media users and their psychological well-being. The object of research is the psychological well-being of users in the context of involvement in social media. The subject of research is features of the influence of behavioral patterns of use of social media on the users' psychological well-being. Research methods. To solve the research problems theoretical methods, methods of psychological diagnosis, and methods of mathematical processing were used in the work. The scientific novelty of the obtained results of the dissertation research is that for the first time: - differences in the influence of social media on the psychological state of Ukrainian users in everyday life and conditions of self-isolation are established; - the peculiarities of the relationship between the self-consciousness of adolescents and young people with involvement in virtual communication are clarified; - developed a theoretical and methodological model of the problem of using social media and its negative impact on the users' psychological well-being; - supplemented research on the impact of virtual communication on the psychological well-being of the younger generation; - translated, adapted, and proved the validity of foreign diagnostic scales of psychological well-being and social media disorder; - it was found that the predictors of social media addiction are tense relationships with parents, shyness, introversion, and predisposition to neurotic and depressive states; - the differences in the users' psychological profile depending on the type of activity and time spent online are demonstrated; improved: - research methodology and found that passive use of social media deepens the feeling of loneliness and reduces the level of psychological well-being; received further development: - study of users' individual-typological patterns of use of social media; - understanding of the consequences of excessive involvement in social media for the users' psychological well-being. Practical significance. The psychometric adaptation of the Ukrainian version of psychodiagnostic methods: "Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale" and "Social Media Disorder Scale" was carried out. Research materials included in the content of lectures and practical classes of disciplines: "Anatomy and Evolution of the Nervous System", "Fundamentals of Psychological Examination", "Clinical Psychology", "Social Psychology", "Age Psychology", in the program of the 6th Winter School of Psychology, and a special course "Psychohygiene and Psychoprophylaxis of the Use of Social Media" was also developed, which was taught to future bachelors-psychologists of Odesa I.I. Mechnikov National University. The research materials introduced into educational work are based on CM "Odesa Regional Basic Medical Professional College". The results of dissertation research are applied at planning and development of syllabuses of educational components "Psychology of Social Relations", "Social and Psychological Training" based on Kherson State University. Methodical recommendations for the formation of skills of effective use of diagnostics and prevention of social media disorder were introduced in the process of preparing and conducting lectures and seminars on psychological disciplines of Odesa National Maritime University, which improved students' performance and maintained the psychological health of all participants. Theoretical and empirical data can also be included in special courses in higher educational institutions, in conducting advanced training courses for psychological and pedagogical staff, can be used to organize educational work with adolescents and young people. The obtained data can be used in the development and implementation of a rehabilitation program, in particular through a cognitive-behavioral approach.
