Essay

The dissertation research is devoted to the problem of improving the elite billiard players’ special physical training’s level to increase their competitive activities’ efficiency and achieve high sports results of the national billiard team at major international pool competitions. The program’s implementation allowed to substantiate one of the ways to increase the elite pool players’ training process’ efficiency in the competition period, based on the use of training loads’ differential rationing with special physical training depending on athletes’ individual characteristics and the pool disciplines. The content of our individual programs (plans) for national pool team’s athletes is presented in the form of the competitive period model, and specifically - the direct preparation’s stage for the macrocycle’s main competition - the European Pool Championship. The model of the direct preparation’ stage for the European Pool Championship consists of mesocycles - 8 weeks: the first - basic, 2 weeks, where the training process is aimed at eliminating the disparity in the special training’s components through specific discipline’s accentuated improvement -specific physical qualities; the second - special training, for 4 weeks, involves the athlete’s necessary technical and tactical components’ development; third - pre-competition, 2 weeks, aimed at achieving a high level of special training and preparedness on the day of the competition. The program’s content included both the author's technical and tactical exercises that were developed by Europe's leading pool trainers. The main conceptual idea in the program’s development was: differentiation of load types, rest intervals, coordination complexity, number of strokes and duration of concentration with technical and tactical elements’ strict regulation with emphasis on improving coordination skills and special endurance. The developed program’s introduction in the national billiard team’s (pool) training process encouraged our athletes to perform at a higher level at the European Pool Championship.
