Essay

The dissertation presents scientific substantiation and practical solution of one of the urgent tasks of therapeutic dentistry - increase of efficiency of diagnostics, prevention and treatment of generalized parodontal diseases in patients with anorexia nervosa by pathogenetic substantiation with methods of pharmacological correction of detected changes of protein and lipid metabolism immunological reactivity. Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a serious mental disorder that manifests itself in eating disorders, when a person consciously limits her-/himself in calories consumed in order to lose weight by various methods with a misconception about their own weight (Bulik C., 2006, Steinhausen H.C., 2009, Goh K.H., Lee E.L., 2015). According to the WHO, the level of AN ranges from 0.28 to 1.5 per 100,000 population, with a frequency of 1.3-5.2% in women and 0.2-0.9% in men and has a tendency to increase. Mortality from anorexia was found to be 3 times higher than from other mental illnesses, and a particularly high mortality rate in people with critically low body weight and long-standing illness. What is special is that patients with AN almost never consider themselves ill, do not admit their problem and carefully hide it, even from their relatives. Hunt D. (2013) is convinced that anorexia nervosa is a disease of our time and is one of the important diseases of the century. It is known that patients with AN are characterized by stereotyped behaviors aimed at limiting food intake and careful control of energy expenditure. In addition, "nonspecific disorders" are typical, which usually include disturbances in the perception of their image, low mood, impulsive behavior and manifestations of distorted interpersonal communication (Devlin B., 2002; Lioyd S., Yiend J., Schmidt U., Tchanturia K., 2014; Lloyd E.C., Haase A.M., Verplanken B., 2018). It is proved that patients with AN have certain features that are probably due to the influence of genetic factors: a tendency to obsessions, the desire for perfection, a high level of anxiety and somehow changed, but stereotypical behaviors. Scientists note that anorexia nervosa is not limited to psychological disorders and social consequences, the key point is the violation of somatic functions of the body (Voderholzer U, Cuntz U, Schlegl S., 2012; Goh K.H., Lee E.L., 2015; Keski-Rahkonen A., Mustelin L., 2016).
