Essay

The dissertation defines theoretical and methodological principles of research of communicative competence of patrol policemen in the problematic field of legal psychology; it presents an empirical study of their communicative competence and suggests directions and means for the formation of communicative competence of patrol policemen of the National Police of Ukraine. It is argued that the activity of the patrol policemen in Ukraine is based on the principles of recognition of universal values, respect for human rights and freedoms, recognition of their priority in the relationship between the state and individual. The patrol policemen are the closest to the population; they regularly come into contact with citizens and are the first to go to the scene of the crime. At the same time, they are affected by a number of negative factors: significant physical and emotional tension, high responsibility for making decisions, threats to life and health due to professional duties in the aggressive social environment, possibility of using special tools and firearms, insufficient social security of employees and their families etc.
