Essay

The purpose of the research is to analyze the key concepts of Blake’s worldview, compare the author's conceptualizations and means of their representations with those of poets and artists belonging to English Romanticism trend. The scientific novelty of the research is in justifying the difference between an individual author’s worldview and a national one which can be expressed by verbal and non-verbal means. It is argued that an individual author's worldview is a variant realization of the national artistic and language worldviews due to the influence of the objective and subjective factors on the formation of the author's conceptual system. This research provides a comprehensive approach to the identification and analysis of key concepts of William Blake’s interpretation of the world as it is expressed in his poetry and engravings. The dissertation focuses on a wide range of means employed by Blake to verbalize and visualize the significant components of his artistic version of the world. The results and methodology of this research may assist further investigations in the fields of cognitive linguistics, linguoculturology, and semiotics by providing them with efficient approach and tools necessary for the investigation of verbal and non-verbal representations of individual author’s worldview.
