Essay

In the thesis, we focus our attention on the presentation of the most notable literary subgenres and currents within the literary genre of the detective and the characteristics of the idiostyle of the selected author in the field of modern stylistics. In the context of our research, most of Agatha Christie's literary works can be united under the general term "detective prose", which we understand as one of the subgenres of crime fiction, a story that is usually interpreted from the point of view of a detective (professional, amateur or retired) about a certain crime, which is based on the plot. Agatha Christie is known as a detective writer who revolutionized detective literature by immortalizing the classic detective story. The leitmotif of her work is the supremacy of law, the triumph of reason, protection of the rights and freedoms of all members of society. The relevance of the study lies in the need to study some ambiguous aspects of the fundamental provisions regarding the detective in general and its genesis in particular to describe the modernized transformational schemes of the detective plot in the detective prose of Agatha Christie, which can be highlighted through the peculiarities of her idiostyle at different linguistic levels. The purpose of the study is to examine Agatha Christie's detective prose in the context of its genre and idiosyncratic nature in the context of British literary discourse.
