The dissertation is the first comprehensive study of artistic reportage in Ukrainian literature of the beginning of the 21st century.
The object of the literary analysis was the feature reports of L. Beley "The Roaring Nineties: Love and Hate in Uzhhorod" (2019), M. Bespalov "The Roaring Nineties: Dnipropetrovsk Personnel Forge" (2016), O. Gavrosh "Stry and old" (2013), E. Goncharova's "A day before Debaltseve" (2016), V. Ivchenko's "The Roaring Nineties: How the Sumys Didn't Miss You" (2015), D. Kazansky's "Sanitary Zone" (2013), O. Kryshtopy "The Roaring Nineties: The Stanislavsky Phenomenon" (2016), "Ukraine: Scale 1:1" (2017), V. Kuriko "The Chernihiv Case of Lukyanenko" (2020), V. Molodiy "Hinges of the Apennine Shoe" (2014 ), E. Podhoyi "Transcarpathian Legion" (2018), P. Stekha "Over the Abyss in Rust" (2018).
Scientific novelty of the work. For the first time in Ukrainian literary studies, the concept of artistic reportage was characterized in connection with the peculiarities of the functioning of the genre in world national literatures, and its place in Ukrainian prose of the beginning of the 21st century was determined. The definition of artistic reportage as a genre of non-fiction literature is formulated, constant features are clarified, genre varieties are distinguished, a comprehensive analysis of visual and expressive means is carried out, the role of the author is analyzed, and development trends in modern prose are shown.
The practical significance of the obtained results is that the research materials can be used during the teaching of educational disciplines, special courses devoted to the study of the specifics of artistic reportage as a genre of non-fiction literature, which will contribute to the opening of wide opportunities for the study of modern prose.
The personal contribution of the winner is the formulation of the definition of artistic reportage, the clarification of its genre and style features. It is shown that feature reportage as a genre of non-fiction literature is at the stage of formation and needs a clear methodological basis for classification. The dissertation was completed independently, the formulation of the results and conclusions belong to the dissertation student.
Feature reporting belongs to non-fictional discourse. The opinion that non-fiction works are actualized in the hours of social changes and life cataclysms, fateful decisions and controversial political situations is confirmed. Also, this genre is developing strongly today in the Ukrainian literary space thanks to the revitalization of the process of translation of Polish reports.
Feature reportage in national literature has gone through complex stages of development, has a long sporadic history - from story to reportage, travel reportage and reportage novel, and is in the phase of formation. The main credit for the selection of this genre belonged to Ukrainian writers of the 20s of the 20th century. At moments when trust in fictional stories is lost, the disclosure of problems cannot be achieved by the available arsenals of fiction, the recipient seeks to be an eyewitness to the events, to learn about the author's personal observations, to rethink what is already known.
So, the lack of theoretical and practical aspects of artistic reportage, systematization, holistic consideration in the context of modern Ukrainian prose determines the relevance of the research.
The research analyzed scientific works devoted to artistic reportage in various national literatures, in particular in English, American, German, Norwegian, Polish, which made it possible to single out the national characteristics of the genre.
The first chapter of the dissertation is devoted to the study of the phenomenon of "documentary literature". On the basis of the representative works of scientists (M. Varikasha, O. Halych, A. Halych, L. Ginzburg, O. Kachurovskyi, H. Klochek, N. Koloshuk, O. Rarytskyi, T. Cherkashina), the formation and development of documentary literature, artistic - documentary literature, factual literature, non-fiction literature and non-fiction literature. It was determined that each of the terms arose in a certain period of the literary process.
The emergence of reporting as a form of communication and an effective cultural way of exchanging information is traced. The beginnings of reporting are found in Biblical texts, Homer's Iliad, Marco Polo's travel reports, chronicles and annals.
In Western and Ukrainian literary studies, the terms "literary reportage", "new journalism" coexist (a number of terms that are used in parallel with new journalism - creative writing, literary / alternative / narrative journalism, neo-journalism, para-journalism, non-fiction, prose of raw fact, sub objective prose, documentary novel, literature of ideas, gonzo journalism) and "art reportage"...
