Essay

The presented thesis is devoted to the study of the Ukrainian pseudonymicon of the cultural and artistic sphere of the beginning of the XXI century in nominative and linguistic-cultural aspects. Onyms, their types, structure and functions were studied by such Ukrainian linguists as A. Biletsky, D. Buchko, I. Zheleznyak, Y. Karpenko, R. Kozlova, I. Kovalik, T. Kosmakova, A. Nelyuba, A. Popovsky, Yu. Redko, M. Khudash, P. Chuchka etc.; pseudonyms were in focus of O. Day, V. Eppel, V. Nimchuk, N. Pavlykivska, V. Pavliuk, O. Petrova, L. Pidkuymukha, etc. However, there is a need for a holistic and systematic analysis of pseudonyms of the Ukrainian artists of the early XXI century, description of structural parameters of these names, definition of types and methods of their creation. In addition, linguistic and cultural dimension of these pseudonyms is insufficiently covered in the Ukrainian linguistics that determines relevance of our study. The scientific novelty of the gained results is determined by the fact that due to the lack of a comprehensive study of the Ukrainian artistic pseudonyms of the early XXI century, their structure, types and methods of creation; for the first time in the Ukrainian linguistics, pseudonyms of famous artists are considered as cultural concepts. In the thesis paper identifies productive types and methods of creating modern pseudonyms, namely: formal-phonetic, semantic, semantic-syntactic and word-forming types of nomination; examines precedent pseudonyms, explores pseudonyms of the cultural and artistic sphere as cultural concepts as well as analyzes functions and pragmatic potential of these onyms.
